Rockyview Ramblers Dancers News September 2005

Hope everyone had an enjoyable summer. By the time this is published we’ll all be back in full swing. Rockyview Ramblers again has the privilege of dancing to the lively programs provided by Roger and Paulette Vipond.

Let’s just back track for a second – we wanted to thank everyone who attended our Mother of the Year Dance and Campout/Donkey Dance Weekend at the end of last season. We have some spare pictures from various visitations and special events which we’d like to share with you when you visit this dance season.

In June, several of our executives attended the C&D picnic hosted by Jim and Shirley Minty. The weather was great, the hospitality superb and the entertainment excellent. What a talented group – Minty’s and Friends! Thanks for inviting us.

Stampede found several of our members selling tickets for Kinsmen Wheels. Thanks to Dorathy-May & Bill Green, Frances Hanzel, Ron Jones, Wayne & Doreen Stretch for dedicating your time in this fund raising endeavor for our Club.

Our Members enjoyed the Kerby Centre dances during the summer and the New Dancer Party August 30th hosted by C&D. We’re sure the graduates appreciated your efforts on their behalf.

Thanks to our members who continue their positions on the Executive. Special welcome to our new Secretary, Doreen Stretch. Also Publicity Directors, Joyce & David Alled who did an excellent job preparing the extensive advertising campaign the Club undertook this year to promote our activity in Airdrie and surrounding communities. Other promotional activities included distribution of posters, participation in the Rocky View Adult Education Program, attendance at the Airdrie Farmers Market, inclusion in an Airdrie :”Passport to Savings” booklet and a Pre-Season Pot Luck and Dance for members and prospective dancers. From the initial response, we anticipate a fair size New Dancer class this Fall. Regular dances commenced September 23rd.

We have scheduled most of the visitations with other clubs early in the season so travel will (hopefully) not be an issue. We really value the friendships generated by these exchange visits. Of course, we welcome visitors any Friday evening throughout the season.

Happy dancing and see your across the squares.
