Hi-Land Swingers News December 2003

It is hard to believe we are already into November and Christmas is rapidly approaching. Time flies when we’re having fun. We have another tremendous new dancer class of 7 enthusiastic couples in full swing. We extend a huge thank you to our Vice President couple, Joe and Hazel Cockbain, as well as all the Square Angels and kitchen help for making our new dancer nights such a huge success. Of course this success would not be possible if it were not for the talents of our very own Palma Heming.

Our Annual Harvest Moon dance on October 8 was well attended. The pies went fast. We have had 2 visitations to our club; firstly by the Swinging Singles and secondly by the Dots and Dashers. In turn, we have visited the Prairie Winds so far and are looking forward to 3 more prior to Christmas. We have a few busy weeks ahead of us.

We held our second annual Octoberfest on October 25. We had a great turnout of over 130 people dancing the night away to the music of Al Moody. Another big thank you to our conveners, Dave and Darlene Swanson and all those who volunteered in the kitchen and around the hall throughout the night.

Attendance has been very good at our regular Mainstream Dances. We’re sure the great fall weather had something to do with this, however we truly believe the wonderful atmosphere at our dances is the real reason.

Just a reminder to everyone to watch your step outdoors. The winter season is upon us and those walkways and stairs are starting to get quite slippery. We want to see everyone enjoying themselves across the square. On behalf of the Hi-Land Swingers, we take this opportunity to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a safe, happy and prosperous New Year.
